Mr. Sadideen led a major project involving 96 patients undergoing plastic surgery under local anaesthetic. Half of these patients were played classical music. The music group reported lower anxiety levels. Other surgical disciplines have now trialled this to improve the patient journey.

Mr. Sadideen’s work on the role of music to “soothe” patients undergoing plastic and reconstructive surgery whilst awake received national interest. The role music can play is fascinating and this work has been extrapolated into other surgical settings to improve the patient journey.

Whilst at Oxford University Hospitals, Mr. Sadideen explored the role of music to reduce patient anxiety. This was in the surgical setting for patients undergoing local anaesthetic procedures (i.e. whilst awake). The results were extraordinary, as assessed physiologically and psychologically.
